Plantation shutters, sometimes called plantation blinds, are interior shutters with wide louvers, usually 3-1/2 to 4-1/2 inches wide. They’re the most popular type of shutter across the country.
Plantation shutters are a popular choice for kitchens. When shopping for interior shutters, it’s important to know if you are buying custom shutters truly built for your windows or if the company will take stock panels and cut them down to fit. Often, the prices are very similar.
One of the biggest advantages of plantation shutters is you can buy them made to measure, so they are easy to install by yourself (even for somebody relatively unskilled when it comes to DIY). These shutters are pre-hinged and have all magnets and magnet plates in position, making for a very straightforward installation process.
We recommend using a dusting cloth or brush, a vacuum, and a small brush that you can wet. First, run the vacuum with the brush attachment over the shutters to remove as much dust and debris as possible. Use the soft dusting cloth to get in between each shutter, picking up any remaining dirt or dust.
